To obtain an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) for a medical journal in Bangladesh, you must apply through the national ISSN center of Bangladesh.

How I became Journal Editor

যেভাবে মেডিকেল জার্নালের এডিটর হলাম:

১৯৯৫ সনে তদানিন্তন আইপিজিএম আর (পিজি হাসপাতাল) থেকে এম ফিল প্যাথলজি পাস করে ১৯৯৬ সনে ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজে প্যাথলজি বিভাগের প্রভাষক পদে পদায়ন পাই। আমার এম ফিল থিসিসটি আর্টিকেল আকারে লিখে বাংলাদেশ জার্নাল অব প্যাথলজিতে সাবমিট করি। ঐ বছরই ওটা প্রকাশিত হয়। একই বছর আরও দুটি আর্টিকেল ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল জার্নালে প্রকাশিত হয়। ১৯৯৮ সনের মধ্যে ৫/৬ টি আর্টিকেল বিএমডিসি স্বীকৃত জার্নালে প্রকাশিত হলে ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল জার্নাল এর এডিটরিয়াল বোর্ডে আমাকে এডিটর করে নেন। চিফ এডিটর ছিলেন প্রফেসর ডাঃ শাহ আব্দুল লতিফ। আমি লতিফ স্যারকে এটিটিং কাজে সহযোগিতা করতে থাকি। আমি ইন্টারনেট ও ডিজিটাল কন্টেন্ট এর উপর বেশ পারদর্শী হয়ে উঠি। পাব মেড ফ্যাক্ট শীট গুলো ডাউনলোড করে এর উপর পড়াশোনা করে পাব মেড ইন্ডেক্স করার উপর জ্ঞান অর্জন করে ফেলি। ২০০০ সনেই ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল জার্নালকে পাব মেডে ইন্ডেক্স করাতে সক্ষম হই। পার্শ্ববর্তী দেশগুলো থেকে

অভিনন্দন জানিয়ে আমি অনেক ইমেইল পাই। বিদেশে অবস্থানরত বাংলাদেশী চিকিৎসকরা আমাদের দেশের একটি জার্নাল আন্তর্জাতিক মান পাওয়ায় আমাকে কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাতে থাকে। আমি অনুপ্রানিত হয়ে আরও সায়েন্টিফিক কাজ কর্ম করতে থাকি। তারই ফলে এপর্যন্ত আমার ৮৭ টি রিসার্চ আর্টিকেল প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।

২০০৮ সনে সরকার জনস্বার্থে আমাকে দিনাজপুর মেডিকেল কলেজে বদলি করে। ওখানে ছিলাম পূর্ণ ৮ বছর। ২০০৮ সনে কলেজটির বয়স ১৭ বছর ছিল। কলেজের কোন জার্নাল ছিল না। প্রিন্সিপাল ছিলেন অধ্যাপক ডাঃ নজরুল ইসলাম। তিনি একাডেমিক কাউন্সিলের মিটিং এ বললেন “আমি যখন মালয়েশিয়ায় ছিলাম তখন কোথাও গেলে ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল জার্নালটি হাতে নিয়ে যেতাম। গর্ব করে বলতাম এটি আমাদের বাংলাদেশের পাব মেড ইন্ডেক্স জার্নাল। এই কাজটি সম্ভব হয়েছে ডাঃ সাদেকুল ইসলাম তালুকদার এর এক্সপার্টনেসের জন্য। আমরা তাকে এখানে শিক্ষক হিসেবে পেয়েছি। এই সুযোগ আমরা কাজে লাগাবো।” সেদিনই আমাকে এক্সিকিউটিভ এডিটর করে দিনাজপুর মেডিকেল জার্নাল এর আত্মপ্রকাশ হয়। সেটির নাম পরিবর্তন হয়ে এম আব্দুর রহিম মেডিকেল কলেজ জার্নাল হয়েছে। আমি একটানা ১৬ বছর যাবত সেই জার্নাল এডিট করছি। মরহুম অধ্যাপক ডাঃ মনছুর খলিল স্যারের সহযোগিতায় ২০১৫ সনের ডিসেম্বরে আমি বদলি হয়ে কিশোরগঞ্জ শহীদ সৈয়দ নজরুল ইসলাম মেডিকেল কলেজে ফিরে আসি। দুর্ভাগ্যক্রমে মনছুর খলিল স্যার আমি ফিরে আসার পরপরই হন্তেকাল করেন। প্রিন্সিপাল হন অধ্যাপক ডাঃ রুহুল আমীন খান। তখন কলেজটির বয়স ৫ বছর। ওখানেও জার্নাল ছিল না। একইভাবে আমাকে এডিটর করে শহীদ সৈয়দ নজরুল ইসলাম মেডিকেল কলেজ জার্নাল নামে একটি জার্নাল আত্মপ্রকাশ করলো। একটানা ৮ বছর যাবত সেই জার্নাল আমিই এডিট করছি। মাঝখানে কয়েক বছর আমি বাংলাদেশ জার্নাল অব প্যাথলজি এর এডিটরিয়াল বোর্ডের মেম্বারও ছিলাম। ২০১৭ সনে আত্মপ্রকাশ করে বাংলাদেশ একাডেমি অব প্যাথলজি এর অফিসিয়াল জার্নাল জার্নাল অব হিস্টোপ্যাথলজি এন্ড সাইটোপ্যাথলজির। একটানা ৭ বছর ধরে এই জার্নালটি এডিটিং এর দায়িত্ব আমিই পেয়েছি। এদিকে ২০১৯ সনে আমি আবার ফিরে আসি ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজে। আবার দায়িত্ব পাই ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল জার্নাল এডিটরিয়াল বোর্ড মেম্বার হিসাবে। ছিলাম ২০২১ সন পর্যন্ত। এতগুলো জার্নাল এডিট করতে গিয়ে শত শত রিসার্চসার আমার ফ্যান হয়ে গেছে। এর মাঝে আমি জীবনের এক ধরনের আনন্দ ও স্বার্থকতা খুজে পাই।
